Nice build, the only thing I can complain about is that you've bought a retail HDD when OEM would do - see my response to your other thread.

Is the 640Gb hard drive that I picked out decent? Or should I stick with the 500Gb HDD that I had before?

if i can complain a bit hehe sorry im a pain lol

honestly i cant stand Western digital HD just my honest opinion
i prefer Seagate my self. also i would cut out the Rosewill RTK-002 Anti-Static Wrist Strap - Retail, just make sure to ground ur self out before u grab another peice of equipment example i always put 1 hand on the case and i never work on carpets heh again just my opinion. once last thing i dont use intel that often but doesnt it come with a stock fan, assuming your not going to be overclocking i think the stock fan would be ok. again i havent used an intel based pc since like back in Socket 7 era.

    hope this helps

You don't give a reason for it. I haven't had any big issues with WD or Seagate. Seagate drives are usually impeccably reliable (mine have been so far) but are very noisy, comparatively slow, run exceptionally hot, cost more, and have trouble fitting in some external enclosures due to their shape. All of these features don't really concern most people as they are not as sensitive to noise as me, and want whatever's the most reliable. Of the three Seagates I've owned, all still work. Of the nine WD drives I've had, only one had a fault, and even that didn't cause any data loss, it was simply a fault in the means to write additional data to the drive. WD are my preferred brand. Samsung drives are very cool and usually very quiet, and also amazingly cheap, but while I haven't had any big problems myself, the new F1 drives do have a few strange things about them, and their 1TB drives really are unreliable.

your right i didnt give a reason, my only reason ive had 4 fail on me and have had numerous friends WD drives fail, in all honesty the only time i see a WD drive work properly is when i see people buying dells or hp Pcs like i said just a opinion we all learn and go with what we believe to be reliable ^^ and i dont want to mess this thread up and make it a crazy arguement on what we HD brands we like.

    ^^

i have yet to try any 1TB drives myself so i havent really read to much on them, but i do agree that ive read that the new 1TB seagates have some minor issues if i remember correctly.

Out of curiosity, which drives did you have problems with?

    I have had a WD360GD, WD2500AAJS, a WD1600BB, WD2000JB, two WD2500JDs and three WD5000AAKSs, the only drive I encountered an issue with was my first WD5000AAKS.

So do you guys think a 640Gb WD 7200rpm with a 32mb cache is pretty reliable?

Smee: Hardly relevant any more then is it...

eddie: Tes, I haven't heard any complaints about those drives at all, and they're certainly fast.
