The problem with these 'FF7 remake petitions' is that there are simply too many of them. We need a more centralized, organised petition source with a realistic message to Square Enix.

Which is exactly what the guys at ff7petition.com seem to be doing, if anyone's interested!

Hey, is it just me or does cloud serve a stong resemblance to Meg Ryan in AC?

Especially when he is standing in the field of flowers with Aeris.

By the way, if i remember correctly, her name was

    AERIS

But as of recent publications such as interviews, bios, and both kingdom hearts and kingdom hearts: chain of memories, her name is

    AERITH

    What happened there???

i got info from www.animenation.com and they will allow you to preorder Advent Children, which is supposedly being released in november now. their price is a little over 20bux, but the original cost is just under 30bux.

the thing about aeris and aerith is that her name was a play on word of the word earth. and the difference between the S and the TH is that in japan, the "S" sound would replace the "TH" sound because ther is no "TH" sound. aerith is prob'ly the original spelling but it would come out sounding like aeris.

years ago in my japanese class there was a guy named anthony. his name was written as A N SO NI = ansoni. if you say it fast enough it sounds like his name. this is the case with aerith's name being spelled/pronounced as aeris. it doesnt really matter to me, she dies anyway.

aeris was cool and all, and it was pretty sad when she died.... but did you see that tech demo? man.... nothing but boobs all over. that took away the pain of loss even though she totally died in the game.

    @SuperXL

But it was sophisticated. She was well covered. The important thing to remember is that
    1. Tech demo

    2. Aeris isn't a DD-cup thong bearing, "oops i have a white shirt and tripped into a puddle of icy cold water" girl.

Aeris is fine and innocent the way she is, it could've been worse.

They could've made her look like a DOA Girl

nope, there's nothing wrong with aeris, it's just that my first time playing, i never thought much about her until she died. and then my next time playing, i paid a li'l more attention to her. yes her role in the game seemed more significant than tifa's or yuffie's, but generally in the end i was left unimpressed.

hmm... it's obvious that i'm not an aeris fanboy. i'm a tifa fanboy. mainly because she's a bad ass b**ch that can whoop yo' ass if you act wrong. the double D and mini-skirt thing helps out too. hmmm...... would tifa be in the category of one of the DOA girls? i think she would.

now fanboys, imagine aeris looking like a doa girl. hmm... prob'ly be another tifa with aeris' face, hair and 1/10 of the clothes...

not fantasizing... i dont even like aeris' character that much, but yes she is important in the game. i wonder how they would do her death scene if they remade FF7. i guess that they didnt have enough computer processing power to do a bloody gorey death scene, so they just left us to assume that she died from shock and internal bleeding.

Tifa does'nt count as a DOA girl, shes not that skimpy. Although, if you look up Tifa from AC, she's wearing a really tight leather jacket that "points out" some things. Either way, shes not that skimpy. (maybe i shouldnt post the pic so look it up)

Tifa is just Tifa, and in no way can se be compared to any other characters in any game. Almost everyone in FFVII cant be compared. They are tooooooo different to be put in one category.

    P.S.

The blade was so sharp, and went through so fast that she just could'nt bleed.

the DOA reference was in regards to her physical appearance. it's true you can't see anything through her clothes, but physically she's shaped up like them. slim chick with a nice set, and she fights. but DOA just over emphasizes the cleavage area by having their girls to NOT wear sports bras. if i'm not mistaken, if you play thru FF7, you'll see a couple of FMV's that make it seem like tifa is a DDD, but in the AC trailer, she seems toned down a bit.

so was the FF7 remake supposed to be based on AC sales or something else? does anyone remember?

i still say there should have been some amount of blood somewhere. most swords cut people and there's bloodspray at least. a little blood on the sword would have been enough. but seeing as how aeris was important, developers didnt want her all splattered around like the shinra workers.lol.

Ok... one... lets stop the DOA stuff... I believe that shouldn't exactly be in this thread. Anyways... I think they were going to use the reaction to the tech demo for the remake or not... I'm not sure this is just my belief on the matter. They coulda used ne game for the tech demo but they used FFVII for a reason I believe...
They have had to hear all the "Remake" rumors and the uproar so they decided to make the ps3 tech demo to see peoples reactions and judging on them... the remake would follow... But of course there was a massive uproar at the tech demo so... hopefully the remake will come... The director at Square-Enix wants to do the remake... I'll have to find the direct quote again but I've seen it so... maybe thats a reassurance as to it coming... its just a matter of when.

the fans have been begging for a FF7 remake as soon as the PS2 came out. they wanted to see one of their favorites on a new console, so that's why i assume that the FF7 Tech Demo was done. if squarEnix worked hard enough, i think they could have this game done by this time 2 years from now. that would be the 10yr anniversary of FF7. it could be like a "Reunion" of some sort.

the only question is "what would change in the game?". there's so many ways it could be improved. but some of those 'improvements' can and prob'ly will make a lot of fans sour. a lot of people want a new battle system. i was thinking that would disrupt the original flow of the game. that could potentially make it a very short game. turn-based ATB is cool and all, but ppl dont seem to like that. and if we dont have the same battle sequences, how will we get to hear the victory music????? if they had voice overs, that would take away a lot of people's imaginations of what they think cloud/tifa/aeris' voice should have sounded like. i do hope squarEnix gets this one right. not like it will make or break them, but still, i want my next gen FF7 to be an enjoyable experience.

yeah, i'm expecting a new ATB system... hopefully they'll just improve it, not totally redo it, because so many fans would be devastated... voiceovers? hell naw, it's better without, but i can imagine some would like them. i myself would like a cleaned up sequences (instead of that really bad job of crappy pixel-shading) and stuff like that. but otherwise i'd like it the same.

the only thing i really want to see changed is the materia system. i'd like to see on the fly materia switching instead of getting totally stuck in battle with some materia that you cant use. now if you're cursed and can't switch materia based on what enemy you're fighting or the situation, would be totally different. like at the gold saucer battle ground.

maybe they could incorporate different battle structures based on environment. turn-based atb for important story points, and frelance mode for the overworld map and random battles. i bet ppl would hate that. i was thinking of summoner 2's battle engine. it's pretty much freelance hackNslash upon whoever is in front of you. and you also use the D-pad for the menus. it's interesting and functional, but i doubt that it would work for FF7.
