Well, I've installed the game and all its counterparts just fine and when I put in the first CD and run it, it runs through the opening fine until I get to the screen that has the little hand pointing to either "continue" or "new game". The music stops playing and not one key on my keyboard does anything to move the hand or select either continue or new game. Any one with any ideas? Much appreciated, peace

well that didn't go well. i don't know. there are a bunch of patches on the eidos website, they might help anyone else. it says i have failed the 8-bit paletted textues requirement. tried the TNT patch.

Well, what I have found is that since I'm using a lap top, I have no keypad and thus need a keypad patch that you can get from the eidos page... however, this patch is not flawless and it may cause you a problem, like it has me, where it will get you through the game until the first naming screen for Cloud. You can enter a name, but you can't get to the right side column to select okay and exit the screen and move on with the game. My advice... just get an effing controller, get past the first naming screen and then take the controller back to the store and get your money back, rinse and repeat if it happens next time you have to name a character. peace

Like I said I only have the game on PS1, but i remeber seeing that patch a while ago on DL.com. Sorry dude, if that didn't work then you might have to shell out for a controller. Have you got a PC you can try install the game on that is running XP - if you use the patch and it works fine, chances are you have an incompatibility on your Laptop... Does your Laptop run a notebook specific version of XP - that might be your problem, just a different OS.

I have this game on PC too and I played it again a while ago. I have 9 patches from all over. I don't remember the url addresses, although I have all the files still. If anyone needs them send me a pm and I can send the small ones in the e-mail and the larger ones over aim.

    Hi Guys,

I have the same problem of being stuck on the Continue, New Game screen. I have a laptop, which means I have to get a numpad patch:

Get all your patches here: (numpad patch here)
    http://www.ff7-universe.com/Download.html

And to solve that problem where you have to save a character, just press Esc to select the person's name.

    Hope this helps.
