Final Fantasy XIII no longer exclusive to the PS3

Although the FFXIII is still an "exclusive" game in Japan, world wide it is no longer just available for the PS3.
I can see where square is coming from. Just to many 360's out there than PS3. I hope to god that Sony has something as big as this news to announce tomorrow on their press conference.

Lets see XBox can be chipped, PS3 no such thing as of yet.
So realeasing FFXIII on the XBox, exactly how much more profit will that bring them? Sure there are more XBoxes out there than PS3s but how many of those are chipped and how many ppl will just download the game?

Pretty big mistake from SquareEnix if you ask me.

Ok, so that's another game I'll "own" for 360 instead of ps3. I was going to actually buy it since I enjoy Final fantasy, but this news is incredibly insulting. "PS3 EXCLUSIVE... Wait, nevermind. Microsoft bribed us into submission!" I mean, really, One console has been cracked for AGES! The other, nothing so far. Hmm... one has wide spread Piracy, the other doesn't... Which would be better for a game developers point of view? Pissing off fans on one console and make it available to the console with pirates... I hope square-enix at least got a hand job out of it, because they're sure as hell never getting my money again.

(for the record, it's not fanboyism, FFXIII was what first convinced me to buy a ps3. Then all the other fun perks kicked in, so no regrets. I'm just pissed at square, and my Microsoft hatred is getting larger and larger. I'm glad I haven't payed for Windows in years, that Vista failed epically, that the 360 was cracked and had so many failures early on.)

 

Piracy is always a concern for all videogame companies and developers.However I don't think that piracy was a concern when this decision was made. Squenix was one of those companies that have in the past stated that videogame developing has gotten expensive and relying on on console to recoup the cost of said game is a definite gamble.
This was purely a business decision in Squenix part. You just can't simply ignore the fact that the PS3 is outnumbered by the 360 worldwide. Coming out a year before the PS3 is definitely helping the 360. I felt a little sick after reading this as I am pulling for Sony. I was like "Oh No!Not another exclusive!!" Sony better get it going and get it going soon. I hope that tomorrow that Sony will announce something as big as this one. They will need it.

 

If its any consolation. The PS3's version will be on one disc and I'm assuming that since its been developed for the PS3 for the longest time it will look better. *sigh*
Just trying to make PS3 fans feel better.

Just tell us that God Of War 3 will STAY exclusive!!! PLEASE!!!

 

You know what, though? MS also announced at E3 that games will be playable from the hdd.

That game is looking pretty good to me. I am considering picking up a PS3 when it comes out. I've been waiting for a handful of good exclusives (good to me) and that game may be the one to tip the scales.

 

I'm a PC Core 2 user myself, but I just have to say this..

I mean cmon! Did anyone really think that Sony was headed for exclusivity with Krazy Ken at the helm? SO lets see..ps3 basically has 1 *must have* title to warrant a $400 purchase: MGS4.

This really pisses me off, anyone who was gonna buy ff13 bought a ps3 because they thought they needed it to play it. In short besides piracy and other bs they aren't gonna get jack shit for sales on the 360 because their main supply of consumers have a ps3. When you make a game series the LAST thing you want to do is betray your customer base because likely they've been following for a long time.

This is all I have to say, **** you SquareEnix and your dumbass logic.

Are they gonna at least be developed for each system separately or is one of us gonna get a port?

Well this sucks sony lost yet another chance to use the ps3's full potential. I was dead set on buying a ps3 once quality exclusive titles started coming out for it. I'll admit I'm a FF freak and this was one game I was really looking forward to. The first next-gen final fantasy on the most powerful stable system... alas no more.

I'm seriously getting pissed at both MS and sony, neither one seems to be willing to address the issues with their consoles. MS still hasn't fixed the 360 and it seems sony is content with a blu-ray player that happens to play games.

 

Could this be a result of ms having some rights to the ff series as a result of ff11?

 

Nah. I doubt it. Again I think it was very hard for Squenix to ignore the 360 owners. That's a lot of cash to pass up. 19 million 360 users is a well worth gamble to Squenix.

 

Would a FFVII remake exlusive to the PS3 make up for FFXIII going multiplatform?

 

A bandaid on a broken arm imo.
