How do I finalize dvds made with DVD Decryptor and DVD Shrink so they will play in a stand-alone player/recorder?

Do you mean burning onto a blank dvdr?

Click on the link in my sig, it has instructions on how to use both programs.

    Happy Burning!

Dvd shrink has no burn engine so you can't set it to finalize. It can autoburn using nero/dvd decrypter/and copytodvd. There is a setting in dvd shrink under the backup options tab for burn settings. Tick the box that says Booktype to Dvd-rom.

Dvd decrypter finalizes after every burn.Same with nero after backing up with dvd shrink.

Sounds like compatability issues between your burner and stand alone.Answer the following questions:

What is the brand name and model# of your dvd-rw drive?
What is the brand name/format/and burn speed of your blank media?Exact MID code would be helpful.
How fast did you burn them?
What is the brand name of stand alone player/recorder?

Tell us exactly what you are trying to back up.

My DVD-RW Drive is a BenQ 1640 BSLB. The stand-alone recorder is an Emerson EWR10D4. I have tried several types of media.

    Maxell DVD-RW:OPTODISCW002 4X burned at 2X
    Maxell DVD+R:RITEK-R03-002 Book-Type DVD-ROM 8X burned at 2X
    Imation DVD-R:FUJIFILM03 8X burned at 8X
    FUJIFILM DVD-R:TYG01 4X burned at 4X

Made a backup of the DVD Dragonfly when my son borrowed the original. But the backup won't play in my Emerson stand-alone. So I was trying to make a back-up of the back-up so I could use it on the stand-alone. All four of the discs burned so far play in the BenQ and my LG DVD-ROM player, but none will play on the Emerson. And thank you for the help!

I'd try those ritek-r03 maxells/keep them booktyped to dvd-rom,but burn them at 4x.I just got my benq 1640 wednesday and only burned a few dvds including 1 dual layer,so I'm basically still playing with it.So far, excellent booktyping burner.

I have a cheap cyberhome tv dvd recorder and it can be a pain in the butt to play my pc backups.

I am guessing that that benq 1640 made the original backup copy of dragonfly? Let me know if I am wrong.

Try inserting your backup disc into the emerson recorder, turn off power to that emerson recorder for about a minute, then turn power back on to see if it will recognize your backup.I have to do that in order to play majority of my backups.
Actually, after turning off and then back on with the backup disc in it: It plays vertually anything I throw at it.

I'm on my 6th pc and 1 stand alone burner and know how all of their copies can vary when it comes to stand alone compatability.

RW backups can be trickier to play.

Fujifilm03 isn't exactly the finest media.

The ty-g02 is some of the best. But,taking advantage of benq's booktyping capability, the plus format/booktyped dvd-rom backups should work better on stand alones. Not so true on crappier booktyping dvd-rw drives.

I'll take any Ritek-R03 maxell or office depot +8x anyday in both my benq 1620s,but don't have any to try in my 1640. Excellent quality media.

Thank you Saugmon! Yes, the BenQ 1640 made the original copy. I finally got one to work using booktyping. I really like the Benq 1640. I don't have anything to compare it to since this is my first DVD-RW drive, but the compatibility to the Emerson stand-alone has been my only problem so far. This time I used a FUJIFILM 4X DVD+RW:RICOHJPN-W11-001, burned it at 4X, and booktyped it as DVD-ROM and it worked perfectly. Next time I'll try the Ritek-r03 and burn it at 4X to see if that works. Seems like finding the right disc is the answer. Now I just have to find the right -R disc to use for recording in the Emerson. I've been trying to find something that works well before ordering a large quantity. Thanks a bunch! You and the forum have been a great help!

My stand alone player is a plus format only.Between that recorder, and booktyping my backups, that's all I use now. I have no trouble with dash, but a few of my friends and family members players do have trouble with them. My booktyped backups have no trouble playing in their drives.

My standalone is dash format only. I have the same problem with friends and families players also. So from now on my backups will be booktyped. Still have to find a good media to record from the tv to the Emerson though. Seems it's really picky. Had a bunch of Maxell 4X DVD-R:TY-G01 and halfway through the batch the Emerson decided it didn't like them anymore. So it's back to looking for some more good discs. At least now I know that's what the problem is. Thanks again!
