I burned a dvd using nero. it plays on my computer but wont play in my toshiba dvd player? Toshiba said that it wont play unless I finalize or "protect" the disc after burning it? does nero do this or is it just my brand of media? used TDK dvd-r.
Nero does the finalizing but you have to click on the BURN tab and check on the "Finalize disc - No futher writing possible!". I am at work, so i cant pull up a Nero window to show you. It should be on the final burn page for Nero, and you may have to click on a "More" tab or "Options" to see it. Finalize the DVD, or it will not be able to be read by anything other than a PC. If you go to the middle of this thread, it shows the "Finalize disc- No futher writing possible!" is under the BURN tab for Nero. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/256436 That whole guide by alkohol is pretty good. I took you to page 3 just to show the Nero settings. Also, TDK made some pretty crappy DVD media. Doc Ty hates it worse than CMC so it must be very bad. Sometimes media will be the main problem, but error logs will report various things that might lead you to believe the burner is bad, but it is the media. For DVDs i suggest you use Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden discs as your top choice with only a very few acceptable alternatives if you cant find the main ones. http://www.supermediastore.com sells Tys and has very good sale prices from time to time. You can also find Tys under the Sony, Maxell, Fuji brands if Made in Japan is on the spindle. I got to the home computer so here is the setting you should check.
