Okay believe me, I know after hours and hours of research and falling for the game copy pro scam that it is impossible to burn and play PS3 games... Or is it. This guy I work with says he could burn/backup a game and play it on any ps3 with no chip or soft mod - he says he could do it on a double sided disc with either a PS3 game on both sides or a game on one side and three movies on the other. Any clue how he's doing it? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Make him show you. He won't because he's lying.

Just sayin'. The fact that he mentions a chip and soft-modding, both of which aren't even possible yet, is just adding more proof. His spouting of facts isn't all that awesome, anyway. I could burn a PS3 game onto one side of a BD and put about... 70 movies on the other side if it's a dual-layer disc. Doesn't mean I'd be able to play the game.

Oh believe me I'm skeptical - ill probably get one even tho they don't come cheap and if it works maybe by having the disc in my posession I can figure out how - anyways he says they doin in like crazy in nyc where he's from but he's the ONLY one I've ever heard say it can be done

    ^^ +1 lmfao. ^^

I don't even want to backup my PS3 games. If a way to do it came along which was cheap, easy and didn't get you banned of the PSN don't get me wrong, I'd use it to backup my games in a flash. But don't hold your breath ;=|

Dude, I'm just making fun of it, that's all. Just because I doubt something doesn't mean it's not possible. I'm just having some fun, that's all. If I was hating on it, I would've said something like, "Dude, you're an idiot for believing that stuff. That shit is fake. You're lame for believing it."

But you're right, it's NOT impossible; it just takes... well, a lot of skill and determination. Obviously. I'm just sayin'... having some fun with it is all.

Most likely the personis lying. If it was true then it would be covered on all PS3 forums. Things like this wont stay a secret for long, and why would it, the person who cracks the PS3 would most likely want the attention every PS3 owner cos it was they who finally cracked it.

Even if the person only told a few friends how to do this, those friends will tell a few and so on.

And didnt someone post a post identical to this a couple of months ago?

I'd take the power of the Web over what the gentleman with whom you work with claims anyday. If it were possible it would have spread like wildfire across the various gaming and hacking sites. You wouldn't have needed to even ask your question. There would have been plenty of threads for you to look over.
