Finding better video software for mac than QUICKTIME or WINDOWS M.P.

    I have got an iBook, and none of the dvd movies idownload can play worth a shit, if at all in an .avi or divx format and I am not sure what to do... I am a recent mac owner, and so far I miss my PC! Anyone's help appreciated. nofyvm@hotmail.com

    Well if they are DivX files then you need the DivX Codec for Mac installed to play back the files...

    One of the Biggest Problems with Mac"s is that there just isn"t enough software out there for the Mac and Mac and Pc are just not compatible with each other at all which makes shareing Files or anything like that very difficult and Mac software is so hard to find and it is so expensive....

    Pretty soon Apple is going to be Switching all of there Processors over to Intel Based Chips so hopefully in the near Future the New Mac"s will be able to use PC Software.....

    It might be a Good Idea to also have a PC arround for doing any Video type stuff as you can Pickup a reasonable PC for Pretty cheap($300)...

    I appreciate the response, and the info. I had heard that mac/Intel partnership... I have great encoding software and all it's just both players are missing something to run smoother... who knows? thanks again!
