i have a desktop pc and right now i have like a 258mb ram or something like that. and im thinking about getting like a 512 or a 1gb replacing it. but i dont want to take a look at my motherboard just yet and i have an old memory stick that i have before my dad replaced it awhile ago. so is there a way in telling what type of ram my desktop uses by just looking at the ram itself and not the motherboard? its a one stick ram instead of the 2 stick ones by the way. do i just count the pins?
Hey, you again...lol download this..........http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php Run cpu-z and hit the memory and speed tabs.....it will tell you all...
thanks guys, and hello iansky! well i ran the thing and it says i have a SDRAM type. but im not sure what that means or how itll help because im planning on getting a new ram upgrade. when i opened my computer there were 3 slots, one taken and im guessing thats the ram slots. and i tried counting the gold lines and it was like 100 or less than 100. does anybody know what type i have? or how id find it, like how many pins and stuff. i also know its a DIMM stick too.
thanks i tried both and they are very helpful. i found the type im loooking for and my motherboard has 3 slots. and on crucial.com, it gave me some suggestions. thanks guys! oh one more question regarding ram. how do i install ram into my computer? im planning on getting 2 sticks of ram for my computer and do i just stick the sticks in there and thats it?
