Hello, I'm not having any problems with this, but I do have a question. Okay, I use ccleaner to free up space on my computer, and I was wondering if I keep saved form information off so it does not clear this, will all my passwords be saved still? Or is it another option such as cookies? Second, Does enabling saved passwords take up space in my temporary internet files, and use up ram, or does it store it in the firefox memory? Thanx!
As far as I can recollect, the info is kept in the temporary internet files. It is of course better to delete these files periodically, to maintain security. Here's some info.. http://www.temporary-internet-files.net/
Firefox keeps passwords in a couple of files buried well down in your profile folder. (linux path is different from windoze so I won't bother) Default created Password files consist of TWO files: 1. key3.db 2. signon2.txt You must copy BOTH files for them to work. Copy with FF closed. You can determine the filename of the file containing the passwords by open the config editor (about:config) and filter on: "signon" - NO QUOTES The user set entry (BOLD ENTRY) is the active entry. should be "SignonFileName2" unless you have changed it
I stand corrected. Looked through FF help pages and found this little gem... http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles Cheers.
Of course when you know where they are kept it's a simple matter to steal somebodys passwords if you have hands on access
=) kool thanks. This helped a lot. Now i just have to make sure nobody in my house finds out about this...
