    Ok here goes....

First off, being my first post, I have to say this is one awesome forum. Just about anytime I have ever had a computer question and I hit google up for the answer, it leads me here. Great site and very knowledgeable people.

My questions is, and I know some of you serious computer gurus will probably laugh, but what is a firewire? I just picked up a Powerspec 6640 and it came with a Via VT6307L IEEE 1394 Firewire Controller. It has an S-video input/output? on it and I was wondering if I could hook this to my new 57 CRT tv for either capturing shows or using the television for a monitor.

you have two questions in one there mate, firewire is used mainly for pluging a camcorder in and video editing from that or an external hard drive but most use usb2, its just a tiny bit faster something like usb = 400 and firewire = 480? or something like that.

It is possible to hook ur tv up but this is dcepending on ur tv and comp so specs will be needed, or maybe another member will help u with thiss. Im not to comfortable on this subject lol.
