The firmware you installed converted your drive to a FREECOM drive. Either it was actually made by Freecom or it is very similar. This conversion can be done with drives made by one manufacturer but named by another company. It is usually a one way street and may not be reversed. Check out this site link and type your model number in the search box. You should be able to find out if it can be reversed or you may find a Freecom firmware that will unlock the drive speeds.

    Hi shauntay,

What NEC burner do you have ?

    http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/

Using the BinFlash v1.26 utility and either Liggy's & Dee's firmware or a NEC Original Firmware.

This will/should return your drive to a NEC drive.

[bold]Use at your own risks, as usually, I am only providing you the info, not forcing you to do it :)[/bold]

    Good Luck !
