Can anyone out there tell me if it is possible to upgrade my Matshita (Panasonic) UJ 820 S burner.? There is firmware for UJ 815 and UJ 825. How do I find out if this is suitable for my burner? The problem is that I bought a tub of new AZO dye DVD-R discs and they "fail to initialize" and the shop owner says "no refunds" but a firmware update will fix the problem.

I take it you are using a notebook, as the UJ-820 model burner is a notebook burner with:

No they are not suitable for your burner, you need the extact version for your model burner.

I would try going to the Panasonic website or check out forum.rpc1.org and see if they have it.

Yes you are correct. It is a notebook computer. Thanks for the helpful information. I may have to see if I can sell these discs to a friend who may have a more modern burner.
