I'm just concerned because this box is no longer manufactured. Not sure who would write the code?? Just out of interest how's your box in terms of recording and playback?

yeh the manufacturers are not actually the people that write the firmware, they arnt allowed by law, if they did, we wouldnt have any boxes. my box can be hit and miss mate, sometimes i set something to record and go out and when i get back it doesnt play back :( other times it does! i also struggle to get e4(e4+1) itv2,3,4. How about yours matey?

Hope you dont mind me butting in
Had The BoxPVR for about 4 months, at that time they were pushing them quite hard,if only id known.Did a few rescans before the crash and managed to pick up all the missing channels. As for recording, you need a good imagination to guess the end of programmes, as most froze during playback. Trying them naughty c****
to get the box working, no luck yet.

not at all. when you set your record, add a few mins on to the end that should sort the problem. as for the channels, what were you missing? where are you located, i think the reason for me missing some channels is just the fact that the cable goes up the wall and the cable isnt the best quality. I also find that sometimes watching and recording at the same time doesnt work to well, e.g i recorded 24:redemption last week whilst watching it (im a big 24 fan and want to watch it again!) and when i came to watch the recording, it simply didnt play! bit annoying really!

Was missing a few free to air channels,Im in the north east TW area
after I started playing my recorded progs it would get so far and freeze, tried skipping scenes, fast forward/back etc but no good.Reckon it could be the hard drive as it came out of my old PC and could have bad sectors on it

phaldred - As a PVR this boxs is rubbish. If I want to record something I power the box off at the wall, reseat the hard drive and 5 mins before the programme try recording something to ensure the recording function is working. It's a pain but it has a 98% success rate. I only really record movies on this box. I use a freeview box upstairs to record everyday stuff as "The Box PVR" is too unreliable.

I hope this isnt true matey, im sure there will be a fix, were just at the bottom of a quite big pile :)

I know what u mean, it can be very unreliable! i think issues could be fixed with firmware updates, however im not sure if there is enough users of the pvr out there to make it worth the firmware writers time! :(

/me keeps my fingers crossed :D

glad you figured it out, you'll have to update the c0d3s every day untill a fix is released, at least it works and it only takes 10 secs to change them! pvr should work, i sucesfully recorded depth charge last night whilst watching road wars :D

we just have to pray to the box gods that a fix is released soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys, my dad gave up waiting for the fix to come out for this box so decided to pay virgin for sports. However i was wondering if it was possoble to split the cable and have it in multi rooms and still use the PvR box. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so what will i need to do it.

    hello glithero,

Splitting the cable is possible, i have done it, i have it split 3 ways, downstairs v+box, modem & cable to me upstairs, buy a splitter of ebay and get some high quality coax cable from maplins or somewhere. then run the cable whereever u want it and plug it in!

C0d3s still working last night from early weekend, not sure about today as im at work!
