Ok i have heard that firmware that isnt updated can fudge up dvd burning. Well i have been having problems and this might be what it is, how do i check? I need to know if i should update or not, im new to the whole dvd burning thing so any detailed information would help me greatly! Thanks

this is probably a dumb question but how do i figure out who is the manufacture, so i can locate it in the list on the first site you listed
Your drive is not listed at rpc1 or here: http://etna.rpc1.org/qsi/ So I would assume that the drive is to new to have any updates available.
