Clones are easier to sell since they look basically identical to the real thing. Think of a fake pringle sweater when put alongside a genuine one ... would you be able to tell the difference?

The only real things that give away a clone from a genuine box from the outside are the vents on the top of it and the rear layout of all the sockets.

Genuine or clone ??? Count the vents on top

    First Generation (Genuine) = 13 x 7 vents
    Genuine Starview = 25 x 7 vents
    Clone Staarview = 18 x 7 vents

As you say, your box has 13x7 vents ... To my knowledge no clone boxes has the same amount of vents.

To sum up, you have a genuine first generation box but a fake remote control (probably a replacement) ... as long as it works, don't worry about it >)

got version 7.05e installed but after turning on emu and waiting for update i had to go to nagravision and put in codes. does this mean it will not auto update in future. what other firmware is there.
