Hey guys this is the first computer I have put together... Everything got put in ok, OS loaded, and I started loading the drivers for the mobo and video card and stuff... Well after I restarted, it got about 5 seconds into the desktop (display looks great, everything perfect), and the blue screen pops up saying theres an error and reboots.

It kept doing this, so I entered safe mode, unistalling each driver one at a time and rebooting, just to have the blue screen pop up each try. I finally got to the video card, uninstalled, and rebooted. Everything loaded great. Reinstalled it (with the display looking great), and the blue screen comes up again.

So I uninstalled it again, windows started loading fine, then I'm hit with a blue screen. I thought it was something to do with the video card, but now I'm not so sure... What are the proper steps in trying to pinpoint the problem? I'm really lost, any help would be very appreciated. Thank you.

BSOD the blue screen of death comes most often due to bad ram or poorly inserted ram. Trouble shoot your build by first re-tracing your install steps make sure everything is properly seated from the processor to the lowliest sata cable. I would expect all your jumpers are in thier default positions which is good and that all your case and front usb power connectors are correctly installed. Once you have re-traced your steps if the bsod continues download an easy to use tool from microsoft or access it from your Vista install to diagnose your memory sticks make sure one of them isn't bad. There can also be an issue with ram if it's not compatible with your processor, this happened to me recently I purcased some gskill ram that was not meant for AMD processors and had issues Newegg was quite helpful in replacing the ram once i shipped back the bad sticks. http://bfarber.com/Microsoft-Windows-Memory-Diagnostic-tool-t2165.html&mode=linearplus

Your newegg links haven't worked, so I can't tell exactly what hardware you have, but it sounds to me like the graphics card or motherboard is faulty. What Error code does the blue screen bring up?

Thread title renamed from "Having Trouble. Looking For Advice", a title as bad as "Please Help". In future please see here about thread titles ~ http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/440385

Another way of troubleshooting is to try a Linux live CD, a quick & easy test that would eliminate Windows as the culprit..

Creaky that is great advice should of thought of that myself I use knoppix live linux disc when I visit friends and don't wanna leave any traces that I used there pc. You can download knoppix at this link http://www.knoppix.net/ once the iso is downloaded burn it to disc using imgburn and pop that in your cdrom drive reboot it will load itself.
