    OK I have this computer:
    http://www.epinions.com/pr-Sony_VAIO_PCV-RS530G_PC_Desktop/display_~full_specs
    Total RAM: 2GB
    HP multimedia Keyboard
    19inch flat screen Samsung monitor
    Logitech optical mouse
Dual Layer Sony DVD Burner instead of the factory dvd burner. i still have the factory one....is their some kind of case I can buy to make it an external drive!?
I am fine with it's speed/performance except not being able to play newer games and some old ones looking choppy. I mean it doesn't seem like it will poop on me anytime.....how long do they usually last? This is my first PC I ever bought.

I use my computer mainly for these things:

    1. Checking email, forums, myspace, and randomly surfing the web.

    2. Watching Adult Films

    3. Instant Messaging

    4.Playing the latest 3-D games

    5. Listening to Music

What Kind of Graphics card is recommended? If I upgrade the graphics card is there anything else I will have to upgrade with it?

    OR

Do i need to build a new PC because this one is outdated? If so is this all I need:
    # Case....i possibly have one
    # Motherboard
    # CPU
    # RAM
    # Hard Drive
    # Video Card
    # Power Supply...i possibly have one
    # Sound Card
    # dual layer dvd ROM burner Drive...i possibly have one
(I mean possible cus i dunno if they will work with new stuff.)

anything else? seriously people i need a step by step retard broken down list of supplies to get, with the pc i have already parts in mind. thanks much

A x1950xt agp is the best you can do. It is a pretty good card and it WILL play the latest games fine for now. It's performance is less than a 8800 GTS but not by that much.

Yea, the Gecube x1950xt is the best card, but you will have to buy an aftermarket cooler, because the Gecube overheats like crazy.

PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG. If there is equal power/performance at a lower price please let me know! Will all these components work WELL together?

    1. Graphics Card: BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB Video Card (BFGR88320GTSOCE)

    2. MOBO: ASUS P5N32-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

    3. CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Conroe 3.0GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6850 $312

    4. RAM: Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

    5. Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM $68 newegg

    6. PSU/Case: NspireGear NSP-750V2.2BF14PFC 750W Server Power Supply - Retail + APEVIA X-CRUISER-BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail = $150 I would be fine with a cheaper case but this combo deal seems to be the cheapest.

    7. DVD Dual Layer Burner/DVD drive:
    Sony 18x DVD+RW Multi-Drive (DRU830A) $60 at sonstyle.com or would my 2 year old Sony dvd+RW 16x be fine?
    and
Sony NEC Optiarc Black IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model DDU1615/B2s - OEM $18 at newegg

    Am I missing anything?

    thanks man

That board is really too expensive. You don't need SLI so just go with a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 and an E6600.

Well I know I would NOT be using the SLI feature right now...but I figured I might need it in the future? I am looking to build something that will last me as long as possible because I am a student and can not afford to upgrade all the time. On Newegg.com is this the specific board you suggested? Item#:N82E16813128012

I do not mind paying an extra $85 for the 3.0GHz.

    thanks!
