I recently bought a new computer with a built in dvd_rw I have some files on my pc that I want to burn so I can then play them on my dvd player.
I bought some blank dvd-r disks (no idea if these are right or not) and I am using Nero 6 pro. I can copy the dvds and I think I am selecting the correct format but it won't play on my dvd player though it does play on my computer...
Can u recommend some software that will let me burn movies and then play them on my dvd player or any ideas where I might be going wrong??

    Thanks

    Pam :)

    hi

use dvd identifier or dvdinfo pro to tell you and us what the id codes are for those discs!

also is it a dvd to backup copy you are doing? or are they converted files from avi say?

Thanks for your help... I don't think it is compatibility with my stand alone machine, I made a copy of a film that I bought and this works fine. I think it must be the files that I am trying to burn, I have tried to do AVI and MPEG1. I downloaded dvdidentifier and I got this:

    Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:CMC MAG. AE1]
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
Manufacturer Name : [CMC Magnetics Corp.]
Manufacturer ID : [CMC MAG. AE1]
    Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)]
    [ DVD Identifier - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ]

If you want my opinion CMC MAG is some of the worst stuff that you can use.

    Jim that's absolutely right........

    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
check this page out and you'll see that your CMC is a very low class media and not very reliable..... it's hit or miss....get some Taiyo Yuden disks or some TDK,Sony,VERBATUM,or Maxell and see if that makes a difference.,,,,,,,,,,, gezzzzzzzz do I sound like a broken record? Is this what you must go through all the time, Jim?

Some days are worse than others LOL
But we were all newbies once, so you have to learn sometime.
Memorex is usually more expensive than the good stuff.
I use Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim, they usually dont run you more than 40 cents a piece,so why buy Memorex?

I have used DivX to DVD convertor, the DVD shrink and finally I am burning the DVD on DVD Decrypter to burn the dvd to disk. The film now plays fine on my stand alone except the peoples mouths and what they are saying are not in sync.. any tips?
