I have a Panasonic PV-DV200 which is almost 4 years old. 2 years ago it quit recording and playing back properly-no sound and quick jerky movements on the tape almost as if it were on fast forward. I had it repaired by Panasonic. Now, it is doing it again. I am about to retire and would like to have a camcorder for taping my grandkids and scenery as I tour the US. Would this Panasonic be worth fixing or should I spend the money on a new digital camcorder. Thanks
Get a new one. There are some decent prices on new dv camcorders with better features than a four year old camcorder. besides, you had it fixed once and it's going on you again, what's to keep it from breaking down a third time. Good luck!
Thanks for the advice. That was how I was leaning but it bothered me that these stupid things don't last more than 4 years. I will start looking for a more reliable camcorder
