Guyz i got an Rrod, i hav read a couple of posts to fix it but i m nt sure till yet wat method to use.
i m gettin 0100 secondary error for which heatgunning nd X-clamp fix r recommended repairs.

Status: The console has nt gone total dead, it freezes during dashboard or game; when i restart it, it gvs rrod but wen i leave it switched on for abut half an hour nd then restart it again, it starts working den again after 5-10min later it freezes nd on da restart gives me red light.

those are the only fixes other than putting the board on a rework reflow station.

you will do more damage to the board. the worthless xclamp will work for a short time but it seems to always warp the board because people always make the screws so tight. overheating will cause more damage. people that do the towel trick are making things worse which is why the problem always comes
back. a reflow can fix it permanently

The Microsoft Repair Center is usually a good method. Unless your warranty is shot.

I've fixed about 15 rrod's and use the x-clamp. my console is actually a fixed rrod and it's been running for over 7 months. Everybodys I've ever fixed is still working to this day..

I'm with wabashman on this one ... you can't go wrong with the FREE MS repair. You'll get a new drive, upgraded heatsinks and a new motherboard of same the model (I've had about 20 done myself).

Just get your hands on another warranty sticker (paper or silver), slap it on that bad boy and send it off to MS.

If your console is too chopped up to send it back to MS (or was manufactured before July 2006), then you'll have to settle for one of the X-clamp removal processes. It may not guarantee you a permanent fix but you might get lucky if it's done right (based on the severity of console's problem).
