I have searched through the pages on the forums and I couldnt find any information on flashing the ds lite. I was wondering once I buy the m3, passme3, and a card if there is anyway to flash and DITCH all the extra hardware. I was also wondering why type of flash card I would need and how to make it work in NDS slot?? I do not want to purchase all the tools and then have to get another card. I would appreciate any information that you guys could lend.

you can use DS-Xtreme or DS Link. if you use an M3 to flash, i suggest you keep it instead of "DITCHING" it.

Eh? If you're use a M3 and Passcard3 the only thing you'd be "ditching" is the Passcard3. The M3 is what you'll be using to play games with...

I don't think you've researched enough to be making any purchases...

Read mr hanky's M3 guide to get a better understanding of what you're planning to buy.

If you want something that plays from the DS slot, then you should be looking at the DS-X and DS Link. You don't even have to flash the DS to use those since they launch directly from the DS slot. The only reason FlashMe exists is because so many people hated using hulking PassMe solutions...

i could of sworn that one of the NDS Slot flashcarts needs flashme installed on the DS.

The DS Link apparently needs FlashMe installed to work (r you can buy a Neo Key or smething and do a swap each time)

The DS-X is plug and play, no otherdevice needed, no FlashMe required.

Just looked it up. According to one of the reviews on the DS Link, it needs PassMe or FlashMe since it doesn't have it's own PassMe built into it. Guess the DS-X does...

I have read his guides, it just didnt mention flashing with the M3. So I was just wondering if you could flash and ditch the passme and the M3??? I checked out the DS-X but didnt see the DS Link. The DS-X didnt have enough memory. Is there no way to flash with the m3 passme combo and get rid of them? I have been reading but some of the information confuses me and I am having trouble finding some source sites.

You don't get rid of the M3. Only the Passcard3. The M3 is what you'd be using to play the games on...

It's like you completely ignored what I posted earlier....

Here's a basic explanation. The PassMe is used to tell the DS that it will be loading DS code from the GBA slot instead of the DS slot. A flash cart or flash adapter plugs into the GBA port instead of the DS slot. The M3 is an excellent example of one of these. The M3 is a flash memory adapter that accepts SD or CF, depending on whatever version is used. So say you get a M3/Passcard3 combo. The Passcard3 plugs into the DS slot and the M3 Perfect minSD plugs into the GBA slot. Upon powering up the DS, the Passcard3 will redirect the DS to load from the GBA port, thus allowing unsigned DS code to be executed. The DS menu of the M3 will load up, and you'll be able to play games or boot homebrew from the miniSD card inserted in the M3.

Now, like I said before, the only reason FlashMe exists is because so many people didn't want to carry around hulking PassMe devices all the time. The old PassMe solutions stuck out of the DS and limited it's portability. However, third generation PassMe devices such as the Passcard3 are the same size as a DS cartridge, thus eliminating the one issue everyone had with PassMe devices. Therefore, you don't need FlashMe anymore unless you're using it for security purposes or WiFi multiplayer.

Since you have a DS Lite, I don't even recommend flashing it at all. If you're having a hard time grasping mr hanky's M3 guide, then you're pretty much guaranteed to brick your DS Lite trying to install FlashMe.

What I don't get is why would anyone want to spend $80+ on hardware they want to get rid of and spend another $100+ on something else?

I understand how everything works. But the reason why I wanted to get rid of the stuff is to give to another friend, I am doing a favor for someone else. And I understand my hankeys guides. I didnt ignore anything that was posted, perhaps you ignored my actual question? anyways appreciate the help.

    Good for you pakixd :D
If you ever want to get rid of the Health and Safety screen in the furure it should work without needing to short the SL1 connection again

sweet.. good to know. though it wasn't hard at all once i watched that first video on youtube and took off my battery cover.. no offense to anyone but you've got to be stupid or extremely unlucky to short it out on the screw thats 'nearby'.. its pretty far away still lol

i don't think i'll be removing the stealth though (of course, may change my mind) since it boots to the M3 immediately anyway

Thanks for all the help guys, I would have to say the ds-link sounds like the best idea for me from what the review said. But that creats one other problem for me, if I were to decide to get that and not get the M3 and give my friend all the stuff would there be any way to flash it without using the other stuff or would it be to difficult.

perhaps I should get that stuff for him, use the M3 and passme to flash mine and then get the ds-link for myself to use? would that be the easiest?

There is no way to flash your DS/DSLite without the use of a Passme device and GBA slot cart, except for the DS-X. This is why the DS Link will probably not be as popular as the DS-X

The second thing you mentioned would work.
