My eMachine T5082 came with a DVDRW drive DH16W1P, which is a Lite-on LH-16W1P, from what I can figure. It has been giving write errors, causing Nero to fail while burning DVD's. I tried running the Lite-on flash utility to update the firmware, but it doesn't recognize the DH16W1P device. I'm new to this, so ANY help will be appreciated. Thanks.
Further info: I extracted the SL08.exe file from Lite-On, then downloaded FlashFix 1.1.1.12 and ran it. I then dragged the .exe file to the FlashFix box, but nothing happened. I'm running Vista SP1. Any thoughts?
Well, I wasn't able to run FlashFix with the drag-n-drop method, but with effort, I DID get it to work as a DOS cmd. I successfully patched the SL08.exe file, and flashed the DH16W1P device with LH-16W1P firmware. The NERO device test ran without an error.
Could you please describe how you used DOS to utilize the FlashFix. I'm having the same problem that you had.
