I was reading through some of these forums based on modding an xbox 360 and I would like to try and mod my console, but I was hoping to get a few things confirmed before I attempt this.

First, I have read a lot about older model connectivity kits and the ck3 model with the probe. The thing I am wondering is whether there is a difference between using one over the other, or do they both ultimately perform the same function? I've read that these are used to extract the key from the drive, so would I be correct in assuming that the function of this key is the same as the eeprom for the original xbox; in that it allows you to change hardware and is needed in case of hardware failure?

Secondly, after this has beet attained and the drive flashed, would I be correct in the assumption that as newer games come out the drive would have to be reflashed? Or is there something that can be done with the backups?

Lastly, I would like to start backing up my games and I will be using the Samsung drive that I have noticed a lot of people suggesting so what I was wondering was whether the top of the rom has to be ripped apart so that the tray is exposed? I have read on certain forums that this is necessary to avoid pressing the eject button, but I haven't been able to find whether this is still the case. Is there backup software for the 360 where this function is built into it so I don't have to take the drive casing apart?

Input in this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You.

please start by looking through the ultimate sticky. it answers almost all of your questions (other than the eeprom one) and i dont know the answer to that one myself.
