i ordered an maximus extractor along with spear in the mail the other day and has just arrived, i am extremely knew to the xbox scene! i've attempted to follow the following two guides The Im-rick-james-b1tch Method and the Liteon Noob Reading Tutorial both ending with the same results, getting to putting the spear on the r707 pin location"hole" and then getting an "Error Sending ATAPI Inquiry (TIMEOUT)x5 and then Error Reading Inquiry Data, check connections and retry."

i have read enough to find out that i have to update the drivers and looked into device manager, the drivers for my NVIDIA nForce ATA controller say that they are from 2007 :'( but when i try and update online it tells me that "the device drivers where found but windows is having trouble installing them" or something to that effect :( usually i can find my way around vista "32bit"'with a amd 64 bit arch." and dont have to ask for help but i am just stuck any help is greatly appreciated! thank you in advanced.

not sue i can help you fix that problem, but there may be a work around. if it is a desktop you are using, you might try getting a pci sata card, prefferably the via vt6421 cards, same thing i use, and just using the drivers and ports on that. this would bypass your nforce controller and possibly the problem as well. if you happen to have system drivers for your machine, youmight try uninstalling the drivers for your controller, and then installing them again, or even downloading the latest version. just some basic troubleshooting, but it might help.

i use a via vt6421 controller card for every type of drive, including the liteon. i have done few now, about 6, and i had trouble one time. complete removed everything, started back over from scratch, and it worked just fine.

That would work great. as long as it is a via 6421 chipset, it will work.

not to sound rude, but did you consider taking one of them out for the time being. im not sure what they might be, but i would guess that one of them could prolly be removed for a bit. if thats not possible at all, i suggest finding the driver disc for your pc, or downloading the drivers for your pc, then completely uninstalling your nforce drivers and reinstalling the newest version. then try again.

and maybe some info as well, do you know how to remove a pci card and install another one? do you know what the two pci cards you have installed are, and if they are even being used right now?

great, now that you have that, you can try to use it in with your current method, or you can follow the information i have used to flash several liteons now.

i use this program : jungle flasher

click on the link and download it.

now go here and follow the tutorial for flashing a liteon drive.

    link: user guide

ive used this method with liteon dives several times with no problems. only differnece is im using an actually serial port, and i made my probe instead of buying it.

    good luck!!
