hi all i recently tried to flash my polar white ds lite with flashme v7 stealth. using a m3 mini sd and a passkey2 everything was going fine till i got to the part where you short the jumper. shorted the contact progress got to about 4% then the ds turned itself off. after some reading and a few dozen tries starting with start+select+a+b did the trick and got me back to the m3 . so i proceeded to finish the install got the msg that everything was done and its safe to reboot my ds lite. but then the real problems started . the ds will no longer boot regular ds games it will only boot with the passkey installed it wont boot gba games either. so i then tried installing the regular flashme nonstealth and got the same thing. as a last resort i tried using the noflashme.nds and this totally screwed things up after that it would not boot no matter what .BRICK... as for the setup i simply copied the flasme file to my sd card popped it into my ds lite along with passkey2 and executed the file and followed the intructions . is there anything else i should have done? i have since gotten a new ds lite and would love to be able to flash it so i dont need to use the passkey2 but i am pretty scared since my last attempt ended so horribly. i also have read on this and other forums that the same thing has happened to other people doing the same thing with ds lites . and help would be nice thanks
why did you try to noflashme your DS LITE. noflashme doesnt know what firmware to restore your DS to. i say its completely bricked.
^^^^ yea i know this now i did not know this then . my question was concerning doing this again to a different ds . i know better than to use the noflashme again but why didnt my ds work properly with the flashme stealth installed ? why would it only boot with the passkey inserted? is there something i did not do that i should have done?
it should have been working fine. you could have just tried to reflash again. instead of using noflashe.
when i tried it the first time it shut down at 4% i managed to get back to the m3 gba menu by using select+start+a+b then finished the flashing process once done it gave me the msg all good restart ds so i did and it booted fine into m3 but only with the passkey inserted . without the passkey it wouldnt boot at all so i tried reflashing with the regular flashme.nds with the exact same result it completed the process but afterwards would only boot with the passkey inserted.
thats how i managed to get back to finish the flashing i think my problem may have been misunderstanding how flashme worked in the first place . since then i have done alot more reading . but that still did not explain why my ds lite would not boot after flashing . unless i inserted the passkey2. it should have booted to the m3 menu without the passkey inserted correct? but niether the flashme or flashmestealth firmware would boot to the m3 menu without the passkey inserted and thats what i dont understand.
if it was a valid version and was installed correctly.. then there shouldn't have been a problem loading games. how new is your DS Lite? its possible (though unlikely) that Nintendo has changed firmwares on the newer DS Lite's that were just released in the US compared to the polar white ones from June
it was pretty new like a month ago . i totally understand now not to use the noflashme but at the time i thought it was my last hope . as the ds did not appear to be working properly
if you can still access anything to flash it.. try this one: http://rapidshare.de/files/30258331/flashmev7DSLite.zip.html not exactly sure if it would work.. but thats the version for the DS Lite which I found off SCDev.org Personally speaking though, thats why I use the Passcard3 - I don't want to go through the hassle of flashing the Lite and messing it up
im pretty sure thats the same one i tried before its a pack containing the 3 files flashme flashmestealth and noflashme. i have to agree with you im currently using a passkey2 and im thinking of getting a passcard3.plus ive also heard of compatibility issues with some games and flashme
yeah.. idk maybe later on I'll flash it but to me its worth the $25-30 to have a passcard3 instead of losing out on a potential $130
i agree just seems the price of someof these things is getting kind of outta hand passcard3 is sweet cause its regular game sized but for $20 bucks my $10 passkey2 sticks out and needs a game plugged into it ... talk about pros and cons hehe i will have to check prices see if i can get a good deal somewhere
Have you tried finding different Nintendo DS Firmware (the original one that comes in your brand new DS), maybe you could install that back on if you found the file.
you cant install a Nintendo DS firmware. you can only use noflashme, which restores your DS to its original firmware. unless its a DS Lite.
though this is on a supercard forum, you may find this useful: http://scdev.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3931&highlight=dump+gba+save you will need a 2nd DS Lite and pull the bios chip out of it and stick it into the new one while its running (from what im reading)
there is another guide on M3wiki http://www.m3wiki.com/index.php?title=Nintendo_DS_Lite_:_Repairing_a_FlashMe_brick
