flashing failed using usb to serial cable....help please

    have genuine starview,latest firmware,using com port 3 but when i go to download the firmware it tells me failed,i dont have a serial port on laptop,so im using a usb to serial ,what am i doing wrong with something so simple

    COM 1 is usually the norm ... Have you tried changing the COM port in the GTRom software to read COM 3?

    sorted,initally out of the four ports gtrom was offering com 3 was the only one that was connecting,and i was getting failed upon failed,so i reinstalled the driver for the usb to serial cable and seen that vista had allocated that to port ten,went to device manager and out of all the com ports one and two where not in use,so i allocated it to port one,on way now to see will it autoroll,nt ell dublin.

    As long as you are using the latest firmware, it will auto roll no problem >:eek:)
