I never realized that there is a way to take a drive that is not capable of a feature like bitsetting and flash to allow it. Which firmware is currently the best to flash a pioneer 111d? Also, I have a Sony DW-U14A with firmware 1.0d. Is there any firmware out there that will allow me to get this drive to allow bitsetting? I was also curious as to why something drives can't be reflashed back to their original state. Any help would be appreciated.
Ok, use this method to enable automatic bitsetting on DVD+r to DVDROM on your Pioneer. 1. Download the dangerous brothers firmware 111L 8.19* internal and 111L 8.26 internal firmwares. You can get them here. 2. First you flash the drive with the 111L 8.19* internal firmware then reboot pc. 3. Now flash with 111L 8.26 internal firmware and reboot pc. 4. There. Now your drive has bitsetting to dvd-rom for dvd+r media, dvd-ram capability & labelflash (lightscribe tech). NOTE: Make sure you download the 111L 8.19 INT * & 111L 8.26 INT firmwares.
Urm no; manufacturers firmware isn't usually hacked, now is it? Use the link I gave you, it isn't hard.
You don't even need the Pioneer burner. To booktype with your burner, Open DVD Decrypter and right click and select change booktype Select BENQ as your drive and make DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM. That's it.
I didnt realize it was hacked firmware. I would have thought that the manufacturer would want their burner to be capable of stuff. Also, do i flash using sfdnwin because thats what I did for kreon.
You dont need one! Just follow the insturctions I posted. The files are .exe which means they run on thier own.
I did it and I'm testing it out right now. How does this affect DVD+R for bitsetting? I just realized something that I dont like. If this can't bitset DVD+R I will be somewhat upset.
i have DB's latest firmware 1.29 for poineer 111d but i cant burn the Aone 8x speed d/l disks at 8x but will at 2x, so if i flash with the pioneer firmware 1.29 which apparently lets me burn these disks at 8x will i still have the bitsetting on my drive, its i dont want to use the poineer firmware if it messes up as you cant revert back to DB's firmware.
It should be fine to flash between firmwares, but you will loose the features that patched firmware gives you.
Ripper, thanks for your first post in this thread - it helped me update my DVR-111D. There's a 8.29 update now available. Would you happen to know what benefits are available to update to this version? Many thanks
Glad it helped you out. As for new firmware, the only advantages I know will be present (cos all firmware does this) is the ability to recognise newer disks and better write strategies; eg faster burn speeds etc etc
Thanks again for the quick reply. I've done it & everything seems fine. I thought you may have know the 'specific' benefits, or a link to them.
Well, the main special atribute to this firmware is the abiltiy to bitseet/nooktype your disks. Presumably it is just an upgraded version. I dont have one of these drive personally, so cant tell you first hand =) ~Ripper.
cheers for the reply but i have the 8.29 f/ware already, but it burn the Aone brand of 8x speed media, and if i try to change the f/ware to the real pioneer f/ware it says the drive is not regognised, any help would be grateful, can anyone else burn these particular disks at 8x speed ?
