I have a Sony Vaio desktop pc with windows Xp and was wondering if anybody knew how to flash it's DVR-108 writer? Sony said that their computers do not accept third party updates so I am in a bit of a dilema here. When I try to install the latest firmware from Pioneer's website I run the firmware update with DVRFlash 2.0 and it tells me "AVAILABLE TARGET IS NOT FOUND". What should I do to fix this because I want to update my firmware from 1.10 which is what it is at to version 1.20 which is the latest? If anybody can help me resolve this issue it would be a great burdon off my shoulder.

Latest firmware from Sony is indeed 1.10. Unless you are experiencing a problem with media or performance I would just let it be, as I have done with my Viao with DVR-108. The 1.10 firmware from the Sony site may not even be the same as the 1.10 from Pioneer (the files have diferent names), and you may be more up to date than you think. If there arte no problems, leave well enouh alone. If there are problems, let contact Sony support for their recommendation.

@poolpro: Glad to see you succeeded! How did you get past the "Target Not Found"?

Well LABOY the associate at Best Buy failed to give me the box which my burner came in so I found out the drives real name and downloaded the appropriate firmware file. The box said DVR-A08XL which was the file that I was supposed to be trying to install instead of the file he told me (dvr-108).So I am glad this got resolved.I think I should work there and show them the ropes.LOL

Before any firware upgrade, the drive name and model number should be checked in Device Manager.

Yes I did check it and even the Best Buy guy but since he didn't read the Box he didn't know which file he was supposed to install.I already knew it was DVR-108 but since they installed it for me I was unaware of the actual name of the burner.
