so i have a quick question, can i flash my 360 back to its normal firmware if it has the red rings......what about if it has the open tray error???

im just wondering cuz it has the open tray error, but i want to flash it back, give it the red rings, and then send it back to get a new one......my 1 year ran out, so they wont fix the tray error for free, but your xbox has a 3 year warrenty on any RROD.....and how could i induce the RROD myself? thanks agian guys

If it is a Lite-ON, you can't restore it to the original firmware. All other drives you can. I think MS is mainly concerned about the warranty sticker though.

I don't think it matters. IF it has 3 red rings, you can send it in and they will send you a new box regardless of the drive is bad or not. I know someone who flopped drives and got a new one.

i just want to be sure, i mean if i send it i want it to be a 100 percent chance that it will get fixed ya know,

and if i just wrap it in a blanket and turn it on, will that give it the red rings....or will that not work.

That will only make it worse, do not do that. The worse that would happen is they would send back unrepaired. Make sure it has the E74 or 3RROD before sending.

    Simply do as gameover9 mentioned.

Send it back as is. As long as the warranty seal is intact you will be fine.

see i dont think you all understand what i am trying to do,

the warrenty seal isnt intact as of right now, thats because i flashed it,

i want to give it the 3RROD before i send it in, that way it will be fixed for free....ya get what i am saying,

the RROD warrenty is 3 years, the console warrenty is 1 year, my warrenty ran out in january, but i just got the open tray error, so therefore, i want to flash it back, then give it the red rings, send it in and get a new one.......

now alls i need to know is, can it be flashed back to the orignal firmware if it has the red rings, or do i have to flash it, then give it the red rings myself?

If seal isn't intact you probably won't get it fixed and trying to give it the 3RROD is a chance you take. If you are getting the open tray error, try boosting the laser. Faster fix than sending it in.

i havent tried boosting the laser, i could try that and i prolly will before i take this plan of action, but i have the warrenty stick, i got it off with the hair dryer and it looks brand new, i have like 3 of them actually, so that really isnt a prolbem, if the laser boosting doesnt work, then i know that this will.......

MS, will no way, no how accept that box if the seal is broken, so you can forget that. You can however buy one off of ebay to replace it. ;)

They will as long as you did a good job in getting it off. Use a hair dryer.
