    Hey guys,
I'm trying to flash a BenQ drive to use as a drive for backups as the console is RROD but when i boot up the console the fans in the back don't start and the drive won't eject, is there some reason for this?
Also, if i don't have a console to power the drive, how do you power it? It has some wierd power connection.

    Thanks for the help.

Sweet that looks pretty cool. Any idea why the fans aren't working or why my tray isn't ejecting? If it is shorting, how do i fix it?

Like infam0us said, it's probably a short (somewhere). Where, we don't know. If the fans aren't coming on, and the drive isn't ejecting, it's possibly a short close to where the power cord plugs in to the back of the 360. It could be a fried controller chip on the motherboard that controls power voltages to certain areas (dvd drive, fans, etc..). To be honest, it sounds like it would be more expensive trying to troubleshoot and fix the problem than what it's worth. Good Luck though, and if you get it working that's awesome.

eebeejay posted a link that will power your dvd drive without the faulty 360. This is great if you want a spare drive to back up your 360 games. You could flash the drive with 0800 firmware. It works great with XBC. It's not going to make your 360 work again though. He was simply just answering your question of how you would power your drive without your console.
