just installed a sony floppy drive. Drivers are installed, device is enabled and working properly but when i put a disk in it doesnt recognize it. That and the power light on the drive is always on which seems weird to me. tried windows help, said it might not be working bc i have more than 4 ide devices. Right now i have 2 dvd drives and a floppy, my 3 HDD are on SATA. Could this be causing the problem and if so how can i fix it?

your IDE cable on the floppy drive is on backwards thats why the light stays on.

peanuts2, it is not an ide cable which is 40pin compared to a floppy cable which is 34pin.
adamryer, check that the cable is not in reverse as in pin 1 to pin 34 or the cable is not seated properly.
