16x is the slowest option given.. with the latest Nero, can I get it to burn at, lets say 8x .. this is for a music cd.. I have an older boom box that does not play my latest discs burned from Windows Vista.. the same drives had no problems when running in XP.. And all those discs play fine in the boom box... same media used
Are you clicking on the little arrow box halfway down the left side of the burn window to get the options window to control burn speed. My version of Nero 7 has 4x as the slowest speed option.
Is there a disk already in the drive when you're doing this? If so then it would appear that maybe 16X is the slowest speed for which the burner has a write strategy for that particular media. 16X isn't really that fast a burn for a CD so I'm surprised you're having problems.
Actually I think the discs are probably fine, there may be a Vista issue here, but I wanted to at least try the slow burn and see if that helped. So yes 16x is the slowest available and would still love to burn slower and see if it helps
