can anyone explain to me why I have got subtitles on my backed up version of "Shaun Of The Dead"? My stand alone DVD player is set for subtitles off yet the subtitles are there! I have never had this happen to me before on any of my other back ups! So i am wondering if if I have done something wrong when encoding and burning or whether it is a problem / kind of protection placed there to try and annoy people backing up there DVD's. I am using Nero 7, I did not change any settings so I can't understand how the subtitles are there?

Thanks in advance for your help

    J

Did you try to turn off the subtitles after you started the movie?
Maybe is your TV's Closed Captioning on.

    everything is turned off.

it appears that if you do not have a menu that subtitles will appear as the default.

i never remember deleting my menues.

the solution is trying to figure out what causes menues not to be on the disk.
this happens probably in the nero stage.

I like the theory that no menus equals subtitles by default. This only happened to me when i reauthored, not when i did whole disc. If so, any thoughts on which files to keep so as to avoid this issue? One more point...On my pc, the subtitles did not come up-only on my dvd player. hmmmm

ok for the record, when u reauthor (wich i asume ur doing with DVD Shrink) it says that DVD Shrink cant handle menus so if u reauthoring them u will loose the menus. my sugestion is, copy the whole disc and see wat happens. let me no wat the results r.
