format 16 gig memory stick on custom firmware

    sorry if this has been posted and answered alrdy i could not find it....i have a psp with cfw 5.50 gend3 with a 1gig mem stick, i recently purchased a 16gb mem stick duo, i copy and pasted everything from 1gb to 16gb sticks and when i turn psp on screen stays black any help would be appreciated...

    Format it with the PSP first then copy the files over
