I have a hard drive case that had a 20gb in it. Can i use any hard drive and format to get the space. I have a hitachi 250gb 2.5 sata hard drive laying around i was hoping i could use. I figure i will only get 120gb hard drive space out of the 250gb drive if it's possible to use it. My other question is if i don't have the drive that was inside the case am i still able to format the drive to work in that case or do i need a key or something off the old drive.
ok, can i use an empty case or do i need information off the old hard drive in order to use that microsoft 20gb case.
Well first of a case is a case. A case is not locked to a HDD. You might need your game saves, downloaded games (even though you can re-download them) from your old HDD. You can transfer these things to your new HDD. Just follow the steps in the program and you should be fine. I remember the first time I did my HDD.
i just want to make sure, so i can buy a broken hard drive and swap out the drive. I just wasn't sure that there might be a key or something like on disk drives making that case unusable without the original drive and didn't want to be put in that situation.
