I purchased a program called Acronis True Image for backing up my computer. It says that Acronis True Image is capable of writing to a DVD disk in Windows if UDF packet DVD writing software is installed on the computer and the DVD disk is formatted.

Two questions: Does anyone know if Nero 6 ultra edition has UDF packet writing capabilities?

How do you format a dvd disk? Seems like a dumb question, yet I have never been told that I would have to format a disk when I was making a backup copy of a dvd movie?

They are talking about formatting a rewritable (RW) blank disc. Nero's packet writing software is called INCD. If you have it installed it has a format feature in it. Nero Ultra can also format a RW disc but there is a slight difference between formatting for packet writing and regular formatting. Be advised that packet writing programs in some cases conflict with some dvd backup programs. Not always but in some cases INCD may cause problems when doing a dvd backup. Hope this helps.

Jerry, is Ahead InCD the same as InCD? Also, you mention a differnce in formatting for packet writing and regular formatting. Is there a FAQ or other source that can teach me about that difference?

    Thanks for the fast reply.

Ahead and Nero are the same. There should be a FAQ section on the Nero site somewhere.

    http://www.nero.com.
