I'm interested in getting a new laptop soon, I have a desktop and I'm sure we have all wiped our hard drive clean sometimes and started fresh all over again because of the computer just getting junked up over time.

The question I have is, is there some way to wipe the laptop hard drive clean and formatt it and reinstall a new windows if my laptop happens to get bogged down and I don't have a recovery disk that comes with my new laptop. If I made this sound confusing I'm sorry but if anyone knows of any programs or something that allows me to do this that would be great! Thanks everyone!

All you need is the Windows CD. It will install all but some of the drivers (which you'll have to get). You should get these first before you reformat as it will speed things up for you.

if have a floppy drive in the laptop than can use a win98 or me bootdisk to fdisk & format the hd before installing windows on it. write down the different drivers needed such as videocard, motherboard chipset, net card, modem, sound card & download them from their driver sites as will be latest version out compared to version from laptop site.
