formatting my hard drive

    Hi all...
    I was just wondering if any one can help me as I am a bit stuck for time and cannot go through all the previous threads.
    I have a pc running windows xp but need to format my hard drive.Can any one tell me the command I have to type into DOS to format it.I have tried FORMAT C: and it tells me i have a Nsomething or other drive and I need to dismount the drive but it wont let me.......H E L P M E P L E A S E

    Put your Windows XP CD into your drive. The CD may boot up to a screen. Cancel out of that screen, and shut down your computer. Start it up and get into your BIOS, and set the boot up to read first from the drive that you put the XP disc in.

    Once XP goes through its loading process and you get to the screen where it gives you options for loading XP, have it delete the partition that XP is on. You will then get the option to format that partition. After that is done, you can load XP again.
