There is no other driver type decrypter like dvd43 and anydvd.
Since dvd43 locks your system up,I guess anydvd is worth the money afterall.
I completely disagree with you about anydvd not being worth the money.

Jim when you're right you're right. If you have problems with anydvd the problems are usually in the computer.

I have used both DVD43 and AnyDVD. I experienced similar problems with DVD43. I agree with you about DVD43 causing problems, however I will add too that AnyDVD is well worth its cost and will not cause you the problems your having with DVD43. AnyDVD works great and is updated from time to time. The two work in similar fashion, however, AnyDVD is simply far superior than the other. I highly recommend it.

I guess DVD43 is in love with my system, thus, I've been backing up dvd movies successfully.

What's the hurry? (a) DVD Decrypter is still cracking up encrypted protections flawlessly. (b) DVD43 is free and will handle nearly 99% of the protections. (c) AnyDVD is still around with regularly updates (d) DVDFab Decrypter is free and is literally standing strong. (e) DVDIdle Pro is still around with regularly updates (my 2nd choice beside DVD Decrypter) (f) DVD Region+CSS Free is cracking as good as AnyDVD as well.

dont get me wrong dvd43 works fine. i rip a disk and it works ok, i then insert another disk and it just sits there with the yellow confused face and does nothing. i cannot end process or anything and have to reset my pc.

the previous version worked fine but the new one seems buggy, thing is i cant get the previous version any more...

    babelfish,

I'm cool here... I'm just trying to help that's all.

Are you burning/backing up on the fly with DVD43 running on the background? What do you mean you ripped a disc/dvd movie first and it worked, and you inserted another disc/dvd, then it won't work anymore (meaning the green smiley face has turned into yellow)? According to my understanding, once you've already ripped the movie into your hard drive with DVD43 running in the background, then you should be all square away to back it up anytime soon. In another word, it's like DVD Decrypter, once you decrypted the "encrypted protection" from the original dvd, then you should be able to burn it smoothly.

Evidently, this is my method: I play the original movie with WinDVD like 1 - 3 minutes (sometimes it may take longer), I then open up DVD43. DVD43 will detect the movie with an angry/devil face for a while, eventually it will turns into a happy green face. Now I open up any of my encoding/compressing programs such InterVideo DVD Copy 3, Nero Recode 2 or DVD Shrink to do the encoding process into my hard drive. Once that process is successfully completed, I just back it up with either Nero or DVD Decrypter (since I love to booktype all my DVD+R into DVD-ROM) and presto.... that's it.

I've learned that sometimes after you've successfully backed up your first back up with DVD43 running in the background and you pop out the already copied disc and closed your burning program after the completion, then DVD43 will de-activate automatically. In order for DVD43 to activate again, you will need to play the movie for its driver to detects the movie again. I may be wrong, so someone correct me if I'm wrong, and please feel free to educate me anytime.

sorry, at work so was trying to keep it short.

what i mean is i rip & burn a disk using dvd43 & clonedvd, this works fine.

but then if i try to repeat the process it just locks. not all the time but a lot. certainly more than the previous version.

i cannot end the process and even ejecting the disk does nothing to help the lockup.

its similar to when dvddecryptor locks up on a badly scratched disk or something. you can only remidy it via resetting the poot.

AnyDvd is homebased in Antigua, where they aren't subjected to the same laws that closed down dvd decrypter. So unless they change international law,I wouldn't, and don't, worry about slysoft products.

I have never used dvd43, too many headaches from what I hear,ya get what ya pay for.

    my two cents

I tried DVD43 back in January, I guess my system didn't like it, even got the BSOD with it. Bought AnyDVD and it has paid for itself 10 times over. My two cents, too.

    Just may two cents:
I've been using DVD43 for quite a while now and have never had any problems of freezing or locking up of my computer. I use it with Nero Recode 2 and it has worked like a charm. The very few movies with the most recent protection I have used DVD Decrypter.

Obviously DVD43 isn't for everybody or for every computer. But it works for me and when it doesn't then I'll look for something else, probably ANYDVD because of the excellent reports I have read about it.

DVD43 works great..... I use it with DVDCopy3 but I haven't used it for ages! I still have the older version and didn't update it. I also have AnyDVD and that works great! But I love DVDFab Express (because it lets you choose the burning speed) and do most of my backups with that, unless the compression is worse than 85% quality! then I will use DVDD with DVDRebuilder and get a perfect copy every time!

tuppeny, there is nothing to do.You just activate it, and open it,you should see a little red fox in the bottom right hand corner of your desktop, next to the clock.
Now you can use any app you want,it makes all dvd's appear unencrypted.

It prompts you to reboot, did you do that?
If that doesnt work,I would try to uninstall and re-do it.
