Most of those sites are a total scam and will not clean your PC at all. Some even infect it with virues or delete needed items.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/ is a good site for detecting viruses and spyware...that is usualy all you need.

(as killerbug mentioned, malwarebytes is a good program for removing adware)

There's a free program called ccleaner will clean up temp files from the PC.

    Also do a disk cleanup.

    and then do a defrag

Malwarebytes, as said above, is great. However it doesnt protect your PC 24/7 unless you get the paid version. But it works wonders for virus infections none the less.

Also, as stated above, get CCleaner.

However thats not all you need. The last step is a good defrag program. Windows offers one with every OS but it doesnt typically do that great of a job. Try defargler. I havent used it personally but its free and made by a proven reliable company.

Thanks for all your help, but they all give you a free download to tell you what probs you have then they want money to clean it up.

I also agree on using CCleaner and Defraggler. I use them both and get 100% maximum possible performance from my PC at all times.

You do not need to pay to get good quality software. In fact, the paid stuff is usually of poor quality. Free, high quality software is all over the internet. You only need to know where to look ;P

I have found using SUPERantispyware is a cracking piece of software and has always got me out of the sh*t. I also agree on CCleaner.
