I am posting this to ask if there is any free, easy-to-use software where one can rip DVDs onto one's pc and perhaps do some simple editing to the video files. I have used DVD decrypter, but rather than simply putting the video from my DVD onto my pc as one file, it splits the video up into several files with titles such as 'VIDEO_TS.BUP' 'VIDEO_TS.IFO', etc. - what is this? Thanks for your help.
Use dvdfab to rip, as it has a free version updated frequently. The video files contain the movie, but if you want only one file, you need to convert it to an iso file with dvd shrink. Also, check the second link in my signature for more info.
Shrink Can Do Some Simple Stuff But Not Much. It Can Save the File as a Single ISO File. Use Imgburn instead of DVD Decryptor, I believe it can save the Files as an ISO also DFab Decrypter Is a Great Ripper http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm
thatnk you - I followed the link and clicked on the 'free dvd download'. After saving teh freedvd.exe appliaction to my pc and clicking 'run' a window pops up that says "free dvd - removes macrovision, rc, rce, uops protetion, etc." and includes a button that says 'video_ts folder' - what is this?
video_ts folder is what folder the dvd files are saved in. Dvd shrink and I believe imgburn ca both convert the video_ts folder to an iso image.
DVDFab HD Decrypter 5.0.9.0 (September 6, 2008) I hope you Downloaded this One as Well, it the FREE Ripper.
