free space on my partition

    Hi, sometimes when i delete things from a partition it says that the free space for example went from 5gb to 6gb and the file that i deleted was like 2 or 3gb... it does not give me the full amount of free space that i deleted.. can anyone help me with this?

    Dump any temp files, and defrag the partition.
