Freeing up space problem!

    My sister bought a used MAC OSX G4 with Tiger and the person who recently had it only had a GB let out of 10 GB hard drive and she delete programs but the drive shows no byte increase does anybody know what to do to get the sppace back because I don't know anything about using Mac and neither does she.
