Please help. I have had this problem for years. My playbacks just keep freezing on stand alones. Sometimes disks cant even be recognized. I've read and learned a lot here. I have avi's converting to dvd. Specs are: Optiarc Drive AD-7173A - cant confirm or know how to update firmware. ConvertXDVD - previously used Nero and same problem Verbatim DVD-R - previously + and same problem Gateway PC with plenty of processor, hard drive, and memory Movies no bigger than 4300mb on disk Oh yeah, somewhat knowledgeable, PC tech with years experience. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I just want to enjoy my movies. Again with different specs, I still had this problem. Do i need to bookmark my burner? I challenge you to fix this. I'm beat
More specs: I burn only at 4x and this happened in XP and Vista. happened in Roxio, Nero 8, and latest ConvertX
1. make sure you have the most up to date frimware for your drive/burner. 2. remember to burn on a clean machine(doing a disc cleanup and defragging often. 3. try a different brand of media like Taiyo Yuden
