Your e-mail account has been hacked, not your PC.
Google "Hacked Yahoo e-mail" and you should be able to come up with some answers.

    Here is one:

    lots of luck,

Thanks for the help. I already deleted the contacts and change the password. can I reenter the contacts or do I have to established a new identity. I sent the website to Microsoft to check out for phishing.

Google "how to secure my email" and do a lot of reading.

Use at least 8 characters for your password and never use a dictionary word as your password. Always use random upper/lower case letters, numbers, and symbols.

I use a SSL encrypted connection and have never had a problem. I do not like the online e-mail clients, I use Thunderbird or another off line client. All I can suggest is to Google and do a lot of reading...... check my signature.. :)

I checked out some ideas especially for outlook express. I use now a ssl conection with it but it came up with an error message
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'chewbkka_verizon_mail', Server: 'incoming.verizon.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
any ideas to get rid of it or do I have to stop the ssl connection
    thanks

Did you check with Verizon about your necessary settings for ssl?

My settings require outgoing mail (SMTP) to be set to port 465 and a couple of places to check “This server requires a secure connection (SSL)”

I had a similar problem yesterday. I have my own address in my contacts and knew something was up. I do not know if my email was hacked or not because the attack was very limited. I remember seeing a pop up window that I closed at the time of the mass mailing. This is unusual since my browser blocks popups. I scanned for spyware and viruses with a suite of scanners but nothing came up. I did install a key scrambler for my browsers just in case.

I forwarded the poison message to the abuse team.
