    I couldnt have said it better myself. Even though I use AnyDVD in the backround there are still a few titles that Shrink and Nero wont "see" so I need VobBlanker. If using nothing but free programs for burning its needed even more.

    And for all you AnyDVD lovers. I talked to a friend the yesterday who has been having great success using VobBlanker with AnyDVD running to copy from disc to harddrive. In short making it a 1 step process to remove the ads and other useless stuff while copying.

    What kind of options are set because I tried that with no luck.
    Not going to call anyone a liar, I just need more information.

    I backed up this movie with no problems using just DVDFab Decrypter, VOBBlanker, and Shrink. No Probs at all! =)

    He loads the IFO from disc, selects a precreated folder on his harddrive as output, chooses which ads and extra freatures he wants to blank out, and lets it run. I watched him do it to 2 movies tonight. Friends with money was one of them. I couldn't find anything else set up differently. I don't have AnyDVD on my puter so I can't say I could duplicate his results here at home but I did see him do it with his.

    I'm going to have to try the AnyDVD & voblanker method on United 93 and see how it goes.
    This is what copy protection it has.
    Found & removed wrong DVD structure!
    Found & removed Macrovision RipGuard protection!
    Found & removed error zones between files!
    Found & removed invalid VOBUs!
    Found & removed invalid program from program chain!
    Changed firstplay: Jump directly to Title 1! (maybe best to change this setting?)
    Autorun not found on Video DVD.
    Found & removed 4 bad sector protections!

    May take me a day or 2 to back up this way - but I'll try it. Already have a good back from AnyDVD Clone so I'll hold watching the whole thing until I do this one this way.

    @Deadrum33
    Never tried this way - so any guidance? What problems did you have?
    Have heard of peeps doing it this way once in ahwile - just keep forgetting. Heck it's only a 30 cents discs & manybe 20 mins of my time so what the heck :) Failures oh well no biggie.

    hey binkie,

    just curious. what would be the advantage in using anydvd/vobblanker vs. anydvd/clonedvd2? i know you can do more editing with vobblanker, but with clone dvd2 you can remove extras, menus, fbi warnings, unwanted soundtracks, subtitles, even edit/cut the movie to a degree, etc., and with blanker you still have to compress and burn anyway. like i said, just curious.

    anydvd basically does the same thing VOB Blanker does (remove the bad cells etc.) so you really don't need both if your using clonedvd 2. clonedvd 2 with anydvd is the easier/faster option. if you want to use VOB Blanker try using "RipIt4Me" it incorporates DVD decrypter/VOB Blanker/FixVTS and dvd shrink with nero or dvd decrypter as your burning tool in one easy to use program and its freeware

    Puterman and Binkie7---When I originally tried just the VobBlanker w/AnyDVD method it was a DL disc and it seemed that Blanker wanted files faster than my drive could read the data.
    That was awhile ago, before I upgraded my burnrers. Now that I was reminded, and tried again, I attempted a single layer disc and evrything worked exactly as puterman said it would. Maybe it was either my older machines specs, maybe it was something I did, but what didnt work for me once, worked for me yesterday.

    I think it was that you tried to go to a DL disc. I read somewhere that VobBlanker removes the layer break information...and I'm sure the slower speed didn't help either. If you rip to your HDD first and then use a program that will set the correct layer break you might be ok. Just a guess. My friend shrinks to DVD5 size (if he has to) after blanking because of too many compatibilty issues he has with DL.

    @binkie
    some of us are still trying to use the free or cheap as you can method. :) I've never used cloneDVD but it sounds as though it is very similar to VobBlanker.

    Even though I have the 'non' free progs - I still use the free ones too :)
    Like to play with the them on the 'harder' dvd's - good to have options imho. Can't knock free that works!

    @surfgeo
    The diff in blanking w/ vobblanker and CloneDVD - is some Sony movies Clone does not remove the friggin warnings even w/ AnyDVD set to remove them. I've even tried 'unchecking' them and the stupid things still come up. If I use Clone I usually don't rip to my hard drive 1st so may have to see if that works.

    @Deadrum33
    Txs for the update!

    @puterman and anyone who cares...

    If a main movie goes below 70% compression or "special" disc I'll use a DL disc anyday. Your friend had compatability issues because either he wasnt using Verbatim DL's the best brand hands down, he wasn't booktyping +R discs to DVD-ROM or he used a program that wasnt DVD Decrypter(or better yet,ImgBurn) to make the copy.
    VobBlanker is a great tool for the 5-10% of the time I absolutely need it. I personally would not use it as my main program, but it is nice to know all sorts of combinations can be used to reach the same goal.

    I totally agree on the compression. But doing movie only rarely needs that much. The DL's we burned were on Verbatim book-typed to DVD-ROM using ImgBurn. They won't play at all in my Pioneer player, skip and jump on his Samsung, but play perfect in my Sony. So the compatibility I speak of is more in the player not the disc. DL's are just too expensive for me to waste time and money on them.

    Have we gotten off the subject of this thread or what? I hope he finally got this movie backed up.

    Do you know what speed they were set to burn?

    Yes we've successfuly hijacked this thread.
    Seems like this wave of problem movies have been fixed.

    Ah the next ones are coming up. One from yesterday United 93 then if you like Disney 'The Wild' has Macrovisions crap on it.
    Nothing none of the stuff mentioned in this thread can't handle though.

    binkie7, hummm thats weird with clonedvd 2 i never had that happen. i dont use the option in anydvd .i use the first box in clonedvd 2 "Copy DVD Titles" and never had a problem doing the movie only.

    My results were the same as aabbccdd's. I copied movie only using AnyDVD and CloneDVD2. I haven't watched the movie yet, but my wife watched it last night and told me...."you are such a good husband to burn me a copy of a "chick flick" without making a sarcastic remark." I been married to that lovely woman for 39 years and I know that comment is good for at least 1 "kitchen pass." :)

    I'm pretty sure they were burned at 2.4

    @tsquare43
    Thanks for the tip :) :)
