I was trying to find out the differences in upgrading to 64 bit from 32 bit. I primarily do graphic design work and save dvd's to my hard drive occassionally. What are some of the disadvantages to upgrading to 64 bit? I understand that I would have to get Windows XP Pro 64 bit but would many other programs have to be upgraded as well? Thanks.
One of the greatest disadvantages to 64bit is when your manufacturer is too lazy to make 64bit drivers, then your in a world of trouble.
To be fair, that's not too common any more, but there's no real reason to go 64-bit unless you use an application that explicitly makes use of 64-bit to enhance performance (if it does, it will be a great advantage), or you need more than 3.5GB of RAM.
