I recently went to the store and it looked like the 36" Front Projection from Sony far and away blew away the picture quality from the plasma and lcd that there was on the showroom floor. Is it me or is it that the front projection actually are better if you don't mind having a 200lb TV taking up all your space in your room.

You're spot on. A top projector will give you a far better image than most Plasma screens out there. A lot of Plasma screens are set at lower SVGA resolutions, whereas for a lot less money you can get an WXGA resolution projector. However, a decent plasma has the benefit of both resolution, contrast and the ability to use in a birght room. I only ever recommend a projector to someone who is going to use it in a very dark room, and on a decent screen. Then you will see why they are so much better

A tip for any TV - try having a muted light shinning on the wall behind the TV or Projector screen. You will see that this helps produce a better contrasting and better colour depth image

oops, I meant front projection as in CRT tube TV as opposed to the rear projection CRT TVs.

Those nice heavy glass SONY TV's look better than anything I think. I had a 32INCH HDTV SONY and just recently bought a 47INCH rear projection HDTV. Nothing beats the big heavy SONY's but, I needed something bigger than 36".
