no mate, its a bog standard Dish and box mate, for FTA only, it comes with a 62cm dish, box and cables required, I didnt really look at the specs, but it seems its a standard set up, but for 50 Euros I thought it was a good option for FTA, the updates for it come via the Sat.

    this is it

If that package is the same as what was available in the UK then its a ross system the dish is a big white one and its a little fta box. It does have a rs232 port on the back but unless anyone can find a patch for a ross receiver then you will be stuck with fta. The ross brand could well be a comag/silvercrest badged product but not too sure. If you after doing anything other than watching fta on 28.2 or 19.2 or 13e then the dish may be a little small. But its not a bad price.

    Hi mate,

Mickha knowing who we know over at wiz I would badger nick and get yourself a 80cm dish and a patchable box, for anyone else this is not a bad fta box but with a little more spent you could get a lot better channels.

It does sound like a nice little happy deal but I for one would want the patchable box as per kegnkiwi's coment. I looked on wiz sat but can't tell one box from the other. can you suggest which box I should consider to get these better channels?

    :)

If I was going to buy a box I would want to look at a couple of things. Do you want to just watch tv?? If so go for a protek over at wizards site. This box has been going for some time now and although has its moments it is supported well. There are two new box's out called the spiderbox sd and hd they can be bought over at alsat.

If you want a cheap box then a clone dreambox 500s, you can get them delivered from dealextreme for £47.00. You would need to find a pay server though or get a share from a friend. You could look at a clone 800hd but I think there is some issues with tuners.

Not really mickha, £189.00 for a hd box with card slot and ci slots plus access to the server, knock £30.00 of if you don't want access to the server. The sd version is a bit cheaper too.

Isn't the Spiderbox just a rebranded box that is pretty much private IKS? In which case it won't last long like all the others that came out. Am I correct on this keg mate? I have been doing a lot of reading up on this box and have looked at quite a few others that have been released both here and in the states in the last few years and they all seem to last a few months then their server is attacked and they start dropping packages one by one. Forgive me if I'm wrong mate.

The box's that I have seen an know about ie the Protek have been going over a year, ok it had down time due to a server attack but it came back and has a lot of packages. The fortec innovative has been clearing nova for years, yes it has issues but look at the price compared to an official sub. The spiderbox is another box but look at who is selling the box, wether you like darkmans site or not there going to sell a lot of box's i think the latest threads are saying gauranteed 6 or 12 months access to the server. With the amount of box's he would sell there would be lots of angry folk if it went down quickly. But you take the risks in this game.

Oh totally agree mate. I have a protek I set up in hers almost a year ago. Very pleased I must say. I've just heard about another he released with similar stories before it was released and it was buggy as hell and didn't last long at all. So they could say 6-12 months guaranteed server access but no saying what will be on the server or what will remain and for how long. Always a risk very true. Very secretive about the content it will have and they say no talking about a+++ on site so a bit too secretive, although mostly necessary in these things, for me to give 180 to someone not knowing for sure what it will provide. He gives the sats it will clear stations on but not what packages on each sat so it could be anything.

Apologies for going off topic here.
